5 Preparatory steps to study at your best

You are all set to study for your competitive/entrance exam. You have got your planner ready, books picked out, approached the best coaching classes and tutors, is it all enough ??

No. You will just end up jumping into learning something and keep learning it, but won’t get the best out of you.

You have to prepare yourself before you study. Yes, you read it right, and I am not talking about the notes or planners or meditation prior to studying.

I am talking about knowing your strengths and developing your skills.

Here are the 5 preparatory steps you need to follow before beginning your study journey for that exam, may it be NEET or NET, these steps will surely help you out.

1.   Know your learning style

Each individual learns best and at his/her own pace. We can grasp better from different sources.

Do you know how you concentrate best or grasp a topic the most efficiently? Is it by reading, hearing or doing. Take the Know your learning style test to know for yourself right now.

2.  Be confident

Look back at the days when you thought you couldn’t do something, but you tried and now you can. May it be riding a bicycle, preparing a dish, painting, whatever. You could do it only after certain trial. 🙌

The same way, you will be able to master your subject some day. 😃

little courage and hard work can take you where your heart wishes. You need to build up confidence in yourself that you can do it.

Confidence is the fuel to one’s success. Believe you can and you will. !!👍

3. Read old textbooks

It is always best to start from the basics.

It is easier to study something you have learnt in the past and it also helps you absorb the difficult topics later.

Every concept has a hierarchy, if you do not know the first step you will try to mug up the second step and that is useless in an entrance or competitive test which requires understanding and reasoning.

Even if you may not have understood the topic in your class, you might have heard your teacher teaching it or memorized it the day before your class test. This will help you learn and retain it now.

4. Practice teaching

Explaining a concept to your friends always makes it easier to remember. That’s why we have group studies don’t we?

As you explain someone, questions arise and answering them makes the topic all the more sorted out. 😄

Remember if you are heading to a research or teaching career, both need presentation skills. You have to be able to express your views and findings. So practice teaching, may it be, your siblings, pets or even an imaginary class.

5. Positive attitude

You may have a lot of responsibilities, many of us do. But you are not going to shine unless you are able to work and you won’t be able to work unless you are cheerful.

Negative thoughts will decrease your efficiency and desire to go on

If you feel a little negativity, sad thoughts, STOP. Do something you enjoy, watch your favourite movie, or favourite music, eat something your craving, just take a BREAK.

Focus on the good things in your life and remind yourself why this is important. Every time you overcome a negative feeling you take a big step towards success.

You can do it. 👍

What do you think? Which point did you find new ?
